War Token

She sells dreams

While the children beg for nickels

And advertise to strangers who might

                                      Want to meet their ma

She can be any lady that a dreaming man will let her

She’ll cloud you with a jukebox

And drain you with her eyes

And if you buy the children some candy and a soda

She’ll take you home to meet her

And let darkness set the stage

             Then quietly she’ll slip away

And leave you to the morning

                                      Gazing blindly at the ceiling

                                                  Feeling funny about the war

She sells dreams

While the children beg for nickels

                         Selling one-act plays to strangers

Who might want to meet their ma.
